Rarest CS2 Case Skins

Within any Counter-Strike 2 case, the covert tier and the rare special slot hold the items players chase hardest. Here's what makes them so coveted.

Where rarity sits inside a case

Every case follows the same ladder: mil-spec at the bottom, then restricted, classified, covert, and finally the rare special item. The further up you go, the smaller the share of that tier in the pool. Coverts are the rarest standard skins; the special slot — usually a knife, sometimes gloves — is rarer still. You can see this ladder for any case in the case previewer.

The most sought-after coverts

Covert demand is driven by how clean a finish looks in-game and how iconic the base weapon is. AK-47 and AWP coverts almost always lead a case. Commonly cited examples include:

Rare specials: knives and gloves

The special slot is what most case-openers are really hoping for. Knives can appear in a range of finishes and wear levels, and a low-float or rare pattern can be valued far above an ordinary one. Glove cases swap knives for gloves in that slot. Because the special item sits behind the longest odds, community estimates often put the realistic chance in the fraction-of-a-percent range — treat any specific number you see as an estimate, not a guarantee.

What drives value beyond rarity

  1. Wear (float): Factory New examples of the same skin command a premium over Battle-Scarred.
  2. Pattern: certain finishes have rare pattern variants collectors seek out.
  3. StatTrak and souvenirs: special variants can shift value considerably.
